Michael Daks Landscapes

Michael Daks is an English photographer & director currently based in Paris after a 15 year stint in NYC. He has worked for over 25 years as a fashion and portrait photographer in London, Paris, Milan, and New York, with clients including The New York Times Magazine, Untitled magazine, The Tatler, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, SELF, Esquire, VIBE, The Source, XXL, The Observer magazine, The Independent magazine, Blender, Rolling Stone, Sportswear International, FHM, Maxim, TV GUIDE (USA/Germany), LEVI’S, SONY/BMG/RCA, MTV, Van Heusen, BELSTAFF, Energie jeans and GAP.

The cover image of his first book ‘JUST GOOD FRIENDS’ (photographs of his friends naked) was featured in the Sunday Times Magazine ‘best of world photography’ section. He is currently working on ‘IN HINDSIGHT - A personal landscape’ : A retrospective of his landscape photography from 1979-2012.

His work has been exhibited internationally, most notably at the ‘EUROP - ART SANS FRONTIERES’ exhibition in PARIS in 1992, THE MILK GALLERY in NYC in 2005, and the London show DEBUT at PROUD Gallery in 2010. Recently, he has turned his attention to directing fashion films, Music Videos, and Commercials. His video installation ‘TARA DANCING’ was showcased in Paris as part of the XXXX magazine exhibition at the VISIONAIRES Gallery, and his movie 'WISH YOU WERE HERE' was shown at the SOIREE AU LOUVRE benefit for the LOUVRE MUSEUM in PARIS

His film 'GIRL FRIDAY' was shown at the BIG SCREEN PLAZA in mid town Manhattan and during the Cannes Film Festival. His portraits of Dennis Potter and Kenneth Branagh are in the National Portrait Gallery permanent collection and his work for BLITZ magazine was recently published in "As seen in BLITZ magazine" by Iain R Webb (April 2013).

He is also a Professor of Photography at Paris College of Art (formally Parsons Paris).
